Somehow, I managed to make it to Bath in one piece, and with all my Ariel decorations and special friends Henry and Dominico intact.
I woke up Sunday morning at 2:45 to make it to my LAX 6:55 flight. I got a little bit of nap-age in, but had a very active and talkative 11 year old girl in front of me and a not too happy baby right behind me. My next flight was from Cleveland. And naturally it was delayed. For about an hour and a half. And I was scheduled to have just a two hour layover in Newark before my flight to England. Thankfully, the flight ended up taking less time than was scheduled, so I made it to Newark with time (and tears) to spare.
The last plane ride from Newark to Bristol was just about as perfect as a flight can get. I was surrounded on all sides by Brits, speaking in their cute British accents. As the plane ascended, I had a perfect view of the New York City skyline all lit up and looking swanky. (It was a little bit like the Peter Pan ride. Except New York instead of London. And I was not in a flying pirate ship. But it did come with that sense of adventure!) I meant to sleep most of the flight, but Continental has these fancy new personal TVs equipped with On Demand. So I watched an episode of 30 Rock and the HBO Grey Gardens. And then slept. At least I made good entertainment choices, right?...right? Finally, as we headed into Bristol, there were clouds literally everywhere. In fact, they were so low that it looked like we landed straight from the clouds. But really, it was the perfect way to enter England. It's like that line in Sabrina when Audrey Hepburn says that you have to have rain on your first day in Paris. I think it's only fair that you have to have fog on your first day in England.
So now I'm just sitting in my new room. Apparently we live in the swanky part of town. A couple of girls from my house and I went meandering earlier through the town's shopping center. They had everything from cute little boutiques to the Disney store. This is all going to be a problem for me. Now I'm just trying really hard not to take a nap so I can actually adjust to the time change. Here's hoping my body doesn't win this fight.
